19 Ordinary Subscribers attended our 1st Annual Ordinary Subscribers’ Meeting on 22 October 2019. Subscribers were updated on SAFEF’s past year’s activities which included a series of industry gatherings, informative workshops, fruitful engagements with various agencies on the regulatory requirements for farms, and our very own SG Farmers’ Market events to promote local produce to consumers.

On 10 September 2019, SAFEF and 60 of our farmers and friends from Singapore Food Agency came together to celebrate this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival. It was a privilege and an honour to have both Minister Masagos Zulkifli and Senior Minister of State Dr Amy Khor from Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources join us in the festivities over an informal seafood dinner.

16 participants from 14 farms attended a Branding Workshop organised by SAFEF to help Subscribers understand the value proposition of their brands and how to leverage this with their consumers in mind. Participants found the workshop interesting and insightful as they were given useful tips on how they can brand their produce to attract their target market.

SAFEF was proud to be a Supporting Organisation partner of IoT Asia 2019 – an award-winning exhibition and conference that showcased the latest trends in IoT solutions. SAFEF Subscribers were offered 20% discount on All-Access and Single-Day Passes. IoT Asia and SAFEF also co-organised a Free Guided Tour on 27 March 2019 for SAFEF Subscribers to meet IoT companies which showcased different types of solutions that can be applied to the agri-food sector. More than 30 participants from 16 farms turned up for the tour which was a good opportunity for Subscribers to better understand what technologies are available and can be customised to suit their needs. The tour ended with a talk on Smart Farm Activities in Thailand.

More than 60 participants came together to usher in the Year of the Pig with a CNY ‘Lo Hei’ Dinner on 15 February 2019. Special guests included SAFEF’s Patron Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry, as well as friends from MND and AVA, who joined in the celebrations.

Over 40 participants from 23 farms attended the APF Workshop organised by SAFEF and AVA. Participants were brought up to date with the Agriculture Productivity Fund, and given tips on how to apply for the fund and how to fill in the application forms so that approval for their applications may be expedited. Such tips included relevant information that should be included in the application, as well as common mistakes that past applicants made which slowed down the assessment process.
